100 years of Indian Cinema

Hi folks....a couple of movies got released last week , both positioned as commemorative pieces on the centenary of Indian cinema....one of them , which has got rave reviews, is actually unadulterated bilge....nothing therein remotely represents the glory of Indian cinema or for that matter current trends..and neither is it a tribute by any stretch of imagination..it only has some shock value, butunwittingly ends up insensitively portraying serious issues of outlier preferences in society. The sad thing about Hindi cinema today is that the so called renaissance makers confuse content with packaging, and think that being different is being creative...on the other hand, the other movie, that has been grossly under-rated,is a fantastic tribute to the heritage of Indian cinema....meticulously researched, moving and absolutely enthralling....that there is still lots of hope for Inddian cinema is borne out by the delightful sight of youngsters (twenty plus) in the audience who clearly were wanting more even when the movie ended, they just sat and watched the end credits, and finally, stood up and clapped joyously.....clearly,they knew what good cinema is all about and hence rightly applauded good cinema representing the history of good cinema....pretenders,please move on ...the throne awaits the serious genuine nonglossy, content oriented film makers....
